Set up and test cart coupons in your Dawn theme

1. Identify the cart experience you need

Open the Dawn theme you want to configure under Online Store → Themes. Note its version and whether another app replaces the cart. In the theme editor, inspect Theme settings → Cart and the selected cart type.

A full cart page, a drawer, and an add-to-cart notification are different shopper journeys. Shopify's cart settings documentation explains these options. Match your offer placement to the journey your store actually uses.

2. Publish one public code in the app

Create an active Shopify code intended for public use. In Coupon List Lite, add it from Available Shopify discounts, give it a clear title and conditions, and enable Show Coupon List on the storefront.

• For the full cart page, enable Show button on the cart page.
• For access while shopping with a non-empty cart, enable Show button whenever the cart has items.
• Start with one selectable coupon so the first test has no two-code combination to diagnose.

Click Save and publish. The setup guide shows the app controls. These settings publish the offer list, but theme activation is a separate step.

3. Enable the embed on the correct theme

1. In that Dawn theme's editor, open App embeds.
2. Turn on Coupon offers.
3. Keep the default floating placement for the first check.
4. Save the theme, then open its storefront preview and add an eligible item.

If you configure an unpublished theme, check that theme's preview rather than assuming the live storefront changed. Follow Shopify's app embed activation instructions when locating the controls.

4. Check placement before changing selectors

Open the cart and find Available offers. The default button floats independently of the drawer markup. If you want it inside the drawer, use the app embed's advanced placement only after identifying the target container in your actual theme.

Do not copy a selector just because another store also uses Dawn. Customizations can change the element. The cart drawer guide explains the placement options and checks. Replacing the cart with another app also needs a fresh placement test.

5. Run the acceptance checklist

1. With an empty cart, confirm no offer button is shown.
2. Add an eligible item and open each cart journey you enabled.
3. Open and close the popup with both pointer and keyboard controls.
4. Apply the code, inspect the cart result, and confirm it at checkout before payment.
5. Change the quantity and test an ineligible cart as well.
6. Repeat on a phone and ensure the offer button does not cover checkout.

Record the theme version and result before releasing the setup to shoppers. Repeat after a theme update, cart replacement, or discount change. If a check fails, start with the troubleshooting checklist and share the failing steps with support.
