1. Who we are and when this policy applies
Coupon List Lite (the “App”) is offered under the MerchWeave brand (“MerchWeave,” “we,” “us,” or “our”). This Privacy Policy applies to Shopify merchants and authorized staff who install or use the App, and to people who contact us about the App.
Shopify separately processes information under its own privacy terms. This policy does not control Shopify's practices or the practices of other apps, themes, or services.
2. Information we process
Shopify account and session information
When the App is installed or opened, Shopify provides information needed to authenticate and operate the App. This can include the store domain, session and authorization identifiers, granted permissions, access or refresh tokens, session expiry, and—depending on the Shopify session—the authorized user's ID, name, email address, locale, account-owner status, collaborator status, and email-verification status.
Discount information and App settings
The App reads active Shopify code discounts, including their Shopify identifiers, codes, titles, status, and expiry dates. It also processes the offer titles, descriptions, display choices, styles, and enabled status that an authorized merchant configures. These App settings are stored in an app-owned metafield on Shopify.
Support communications
If you contact us, we process your email address and the information you choose to provide, such as your store domain, screenshots, and issue details.
Limited technical and security data
When generated by our hosting infrastructure, limited logs may include timestamps, IP addresses, request paths, device or browser details, and error or security-event information. We use this information only to operate, troubleshoot, and protect the App.
Storefront activity
The theme extension reads cart state in a visitor's browser and sends coupon-related requests directly to the merchant's Shopify storefront. Through this feature, our App server does not receive or store customer profiles, orders, cart contents, payment information, or storefront visitor activity.
Optional public-website analytics
On couponlist.merchweave.net public marketing, guide, support, and legal pages, Google Analytics loads only after a visitor chooses to allow analytics. It may process page URLs, referral information, interactions, approximate location, and device or browser details. We use this information to understand content and product-link usage. The consent choice is stored in the visitor's browser and can be changed through the Analytics settings control. This analytics tag is not loaded inside the embedded Shopify Admin App routes.
3. How we use information
We process information only as reasonably necessary to:
- authenticate authorized stores and users;
- provide and maintain the App's requested functionality;
- read eligible discounts and save merchant-selected settings;
- respond to support and security requests;
- detect, prevent, and investigate abuse or security incidents;
- comply with legal obligations and enforce our Terms; and
- understand and fix technical failures using limited operational information.
4. Legal bases
Where data-protection law requires a legal basis, we rely on performance of our contract with the merchant, our legitimate interests in operating and securing the App, compliance with legal obligations, and consent where consent is required. You may withdraw consent at any time, without affecting earlier lawful processing.
5. How information is shared
We may disclose limited information:
- to Shopify, where necessary to operate the App and process app charges;
- to hosting, infrastructure, security, and communication providers acting for us under appropriate obligations;
- to Google as an analytics provider, only after a public-website visitor allows optional analytics;
- to professional advisers, regulators, courts, or authorities when reasonably necessary or legally required; and
- in connection with a merger, financing, reorganization, or sale of all or part of the App business, subject to appropriate confidentiality and applicable law.
We do not sell or rent personal information, share it for cross-context behavioral advertising, or use merchant or customer personal information to train artificial-intelligence or machine-learning models.
6. Retention and deletion
We retain information only for as long as reasonably necessary for the purposes described above, including support, security, legal, accounting, and dispute-resolution needs. Retention depends on the information's nature, sensitivity, purpose, and applicable legal requirements.
The App is configured to delete its locally stored Shopify session records after receiving a valid app-uninstalled webhook. App settings stored in Shopify remain subject to Shopify's platform retention and deletion behavior; we do not keep a separate settings copy in the App database. Backup or security records may persist for a limited period before scheduled deletion.
7. Security
We use reasonable administrative and technical safeguards designed to protect information, including Shopify's authorization mechanisms and access controls appropriate to the App. No internet service or storage method is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security.
8. International processing
We and our service providers may process information in countries other than your own. Where required, we use legally recognized safeguards for international transfers. Local laws in those countries may differ from the laws where you live.
9. Your privacy rights
Depending on your location, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, restrict, or obtain a copy of personal information, or to object to certain processing. You may also have the right to complain to a data-protection authority. These rights can be limited by law.
To make a request, email support@merchweave.net. We may need to verify your identity and authority over the relevant store. You can also manage or remove the App through Shopify.
10. Third-party information and children
Do not send us personal information about customers or other people unless it is necessary and you are authorized to do so. The App is a business tool for Shopify merchants and is not directed to children under 18.
11. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy to reflect changes to the App, law, or our practices. We will post the revised version with a new effective date and provide additional notice when required by law.
